I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Knowledge, skills and attitude

* Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Listen and get some information then talk to plan a day out to a place of interest in an area

- Use complex sentences and some common phrasal verbs

a. Vocabulary: The lexical items related to the topic “Local Environment”

b. Grammar:  complex sentences, the uses of some common phrasal verbs 

* Skill: Listening, reading, writing and speaking

* Attitude: love the subject, love English.

2. Competences:

- Self-study ability;

            - Communicative ability;

            - Co-operative ability;

            - Problem solving and creation ability.

II. PREPARATIONS:

- Teacher:       - Extra board.

                        - Recording     

- Pictures.

- Students:       - Prepare the lesson at home.

III. PROCEDURES

1. Class orderGreeting, checking attendance, asking for date

2. Checking upAsk Ss practice 4, 5 and 6 in “A Closer Look 2”

- Introduce the lesson
- Refer to the words in the Extra vocabulary box.
- Have Ss read through the table. Play the recording once or twice for Ss to complete the table. Then write the answers on the board. Play the recording one more time for Ss to check their answers. Confirm the correct ones.
- Have Ss work in groups to do this activity. Set a time limit of about 15 minutes for this activity. 
- Move around to observe and give help if necessary. 
- Have groups present their plan to the class. Keep watch of the time for each group. Other groups and T give feedback. Vote for the best plan.
- Listen and get some general ideas.
- Listen to the explanation and take notes.
- Individual work then compare and discuss.
- Work in groups to do the task.
- Each group presents, then vote for the best plan.

Tell Ss that in this lesson they will have the opportunity to organise a day ...s will be able to:

2. Checking up: Ask Ss to read or talk about the plan to a place of interest

- Have Ss do this activity in pairs. One student looks at Picture A on page 12 while the other looks at Picture B on page 15.
- teach some new words
- Ask Ss to read the titles in the box quickly. Make sure they understand the meaning of each title.
- Have Ss read the paragraphs and match them with the titles. Ask them to compare their answers with a classmate. Elicit their answers.
- Ask Ss to read the passage again to answer the questions. Ss can underline parts of the text that help them with the answers. Ss compare their answers before giving the answers to T. Ask them to give evidence when giving the answers.
- Ask Ss to read the ideas. Explain any points they are not sure about. T may also have to give Ss the meaning of some words such as authenticity (the quality of being real or true) or preserve (protect). 
- Ask Ss to add some more benefits and challenges.
- Have Ss work in groups to work out an action plan to deal with the challenges mentioned above. Set a time limit of about 10 minutes for this activity. Move around to provide help and comments.
